Which reminds me, the other night, on FMC, I watched for the first time, the remake of "Vanishing Point", starring Viggo Mortenson as Kowalski. I didn't know there was a newer version of the 1971 original, starring Barry Newman, and this story certainly is different, but in this remake, the filmakers make it known, several times throughout the movie, that the vehicle is a "Hemi" powered Challenger. My first thought when I saw the Challenger was that it didn't have any hood latches. Were hood latches an optional item in 1970? I would think that any Challenger, or Cuda, with a 426 or 440 would automatically come with hood latches, why would the manufacturer, in this case Chrylser, take a chance on a hood flying off of one of their heavily horsepowered vehicles?
