I seem to enjoy my car the most when
« on: June 21, 2009 - 05:38:15 PM »
I am mashing the gas pedal. Cruisin is fun , but acceleration seems to keep me inspired more.

I drove to the track and show yesterday. 3k rpms for 70 plus miles. It got boreing. I had to keep running it up to 4700 and letting off just to keep the thrill high going.

That sounds really cool wish I could have gone with you.  Brings back memories of my 440/6 and my small block 6 packs.  I hope to be able to get a 6 pack if I can for my car also.
Got a pretty good start on my M46 optioned Barracuda restoration but now it is on hold till I can gather more funds.  Still need a few parts for it.  SIU Graduate 75 AAS Automotive Tech, 94 BS Advanced Tech Studies, 1997 MSED Workforce Education and Development

I seem to enjoy my car the most when…….

…..I have grease under my finger nails and I am lying on the cold concrete and wrenching on her to make her run better.

I'm with Moparal. Acceleration :burnout: is the best and I do the same thing on longer drives.

I bet it is a blast to be behind the wheel of a six-pack-powered car. :twothumbs:  I usually am content with hearing the turbos spooling or getting a 'pppsssh' from the blow-off/bypass valve between shifting gears or from just a couple quick throttle stomps. :grinyes:

Thats why you should get that little turbo car up and running Alan, you would have a blast spooling that thing up.I do love the sound of a V8 also, but have caught a few guys off guard with my little monster.

I'm with Alan,
I just love driving my Mopars. And on a back country road, I can just stop, power brake, mash the gas & hold on Woo-Hooo. I also love the looks and comments I get at stop lights & places. Last weekend I was at the 2009 Mopar Madness show & races at VMP 1/4 mile track and drove the Barracuda down the 1/4 mile. Boy was that a blast. I hadn't done that in over 20 years!! Now that's what I'm talking about!! :burnout:

:2thumbs:  The power, torque, and speed are definately huge russhes for all of us. Sometimes I wonder however why we build them so rad especially when it comes to top end speed. On the everyday streets and roads you can only use perhaps 1/2 of what they are built for :roflsmiley: safely speaking.

Some of the most rewarding moments are when ya pull into a busy gas station, it's like some rock star just pulled in. You get the stares from the jealous males, the smiles from the fine ladies, and the kid's eyeball nearly pop out of their heads. And most always these are people driving ferds and cheebys, afterall we Mopar buds are a rare breed. But for the most part people in general love them, their rumble sound with that not so stock cam, the high impact colors, and knowing you own some bada$$ street muscle.

Anyway you look or think about it Mopars are one up on about anything else out there  :2thumbs: Someone could come up to me and tell me I just won a corvette, my response would be, "Just give me the money it would cost".............."I'll go buy me some Mopar badness."

I agree with everything said so far.  The shock value of the Beast when folks see it with the hood off for the first time.  I see some awed expressions on their faces.  Every weekend as the car shows/ cruise-ins wind down, a small crowd of folks that have just seen the car for the first time gather around to hear me fire it up to leave.  Once again -- jaws drop, thumbs go up, and the international sign for "turn em over" starts.
Then there is the acceleration part of it.  Heaven on wheels is all I can say about that.  9 second all motor Hemified "A" bod is just cool.....      :cooldancing:

The smiles on faces of people when they see the car and just want to talk about it.  :2thumbs: I was showing in a dealer showroom last week and a family came in looking for a car and their 5-year old immediately spotted my Challenger, pointed to it and said "I want that one"  LOL....

I think I enjoy working on mine (there's always at least two) as much as driving, but there is no real substitute for getting them sideways with two big rubber patches in the rearview.

I really need to drive them more!
