Anyone have an opinions on public health care?
« on: June 26, 2009 - 10:21:41 AM »
I seem to be missing something here, so someone please correct me, or show me the light.

250 million Americans have health care, and are satisfied with it. 46 million Americans are uninsured. So the liberal president and Congress are planning on spending $1.6 trillion dollars to screw up everyones health care, in order to provide health care for the 46 million that are uninsured? And one of the ways they plan on coming up with the money, is by taxing employere provided health care benefits of those that already have them, which will cause more people to lose their health care, which will mean less money for the program and more people needing health care?

Why the He11 dont they just subsidize the hospitals that provide care to the uninsured, and leave well enough alone? They could slow the rising cost of health care by instituting Torte reform, just like they did in the auto insurance industry. You agree to not launch frivolous law suites, and you pay a lower cost.

What gets me the most, is that Congress is working balls-out, to come up with a plan that the majority of Americans dont want or need! What the He11 happened to the rule of the majority? Is anyone calling their Senators and Representatives and screaming at them to stop this insanity?

No country with socialized health care has the level of care that we do in this country. Example after example can be shown of people dying while they wait to get into a doctor. In certain countries, you are given a value, and if the procedure you needs exceeds that value, you just dont get the procedure, and die.

The only thing wrong with health care in this country, is the lawyers, who sue at the drop of a hat, for exorbitant amounts.

I'd like to hear other peoples thoughts on this, because it seems like sheer lunacy, especially with the government trying to force it through in such a short amount of time. Anyone with even a fraction of a brain can see that it will be full of waste, pork, and errors. Also, I think we should DEMAND, that all members of government should be FORCED to use any socialized health care plan instituted by them, otherwise they will keep their cushy private plans while throwing the rest of us under the bus..

I have health care, it has gotten progressively worse and more expensive in the downturn in the economy, However I will be paying for other's health care that do not, it shouldn't suprise any of us that the tax payer always gets the bill.
I also believe the whole insurance company, and doctors are a load of crap, you can't have a procedure done because of the insurance company doesn't think it is viable to your situation, I honestly believe most if not all diseases could be cured, but there is to much money in it for the party's involved, so it will never happen

I pay for my health care for myself and my family.  Now they want me to pay for someone elses ?  There is no nation in the world with socialized health care that's worth a $hit.  No other nation comes up with anywhere near the cures / treatments that the US does.

Name one business / industry that the gov't has run well and I'll consider it.  Amtrack ?  The Postal Service ?  Social Security, Welfare, etc.

I read this forum because it is devoted to MOPARS, specifically, the E bodies, NOT a place to vent one's political opinions, statements, etc. Not that healthcare isn't important, nor the wars, funding of those wars, the recession, etc. but there are plenty of other websites for these kinds of subjects, PLEASE can we keep the focus on our cars?

Thanks

I agree with all that have posted so far.
I have insurance. I pay a lot of money every paycheck. I will stick with what I have. I don't want the US government taking care of my health care.  I have had no problems so far with what I have. I don't want to have to deal with government red tape.
Lets have ALL the Senators/representatives etc. have the same plan we have. I bet the plan would not pass or it would end up being be an awesome plan that would cost a fortune! Maybe all the people with no insurance can get added to Medicare or whatever the people 65 and up are covered by. I don't want or need Universal Health care. I work hard to provide for my family. I struggle to get by. Why should I work harder to provide for those that don't have health care and take away from my family?

This is the "Off-topic" section, where anything goes. This is not a political issue where individuals are being bashed. This is an issue that is going to affect the majority of Americans. I consider most of the people on this board as friends, and wish to discuss the topic with them. They may not be on the other boards in this collective group. If you dont agree with the topic, dont read it, stay away from it, and let the people that are interested in it, discuss it. If there is no interest, it will die on the vine. If there is interest, a healthy debate never hurt anyone. We have proven in the past that we can be civil when discussing just about any topic.

The title is pretty clear that it is about healthcare not Mopars. If you do not wish to discuss healthcare, don't click on the topic.
I don't see any political bashing on this topic. I just wanted to state my opinion. I am not trying to offend anyone.

I actually thing some form of nationalized health care might be good but not the one they are trying to shove down our throat. The spinach people dont care what the majority thinks, they are in a position to get their agenda finalized and could care less what we all think. They are going to do what they want because they know they have time on their side. By the time our rights are stripped from us it will be too late to do anything but blame ourselves for voting them into office. We need to scrap the whole political system and go strictly by the constitution, thats where the meat is. Our nations laws are getting like the general population, obese.

Do you know that 46 million is way high ? It's including millions of illegals, and some 12 mill people that just plain dont want to be insured, their young, healthy and can afford it but ELECT not to have it. The actual number of people that want ins, but cant afford it and are legal US citizens is supposed to be closer to 14 million. Just what i heard, I didnt check the numbers so dont kill me if there off some.

I got insurance.  It sucks. I have to make payments to my doc and hospital.  Even if you have insurance, the cost is so high they milk you dry. Wife had stones, I had a problem a few weeks ago and now have to pay my share.  Thats after the 2k out of pocket and my 20% of the total of each cost.   Just saying you have insurance doesnt mean you get good insurance you can afford.

So what's the difference between an HMO worker and some Government worker deciding what treatment you will get and when you will get it? Probably just a bunch of benefits and a cushy retirement plan that's susidised by your tax money that every federal worker gets. :grinyes:
Once we had Ronald Reagan, Bob Hope & Johnny Cash. Now we have Obama, No Hope and No Cash!

My wife just had her 2nd knee replacement surgery. The hospital bill was about $56K. That's not chicken scratch. I have health insurance and it ain't cheap, but none the less i am glad i have it and can go to any doctor or specialist I darn well chose & i like it that way. We have the most advanced medicine in the world, but it can definitely be improved. Like $50 bucks for a box of cotton swabs!! And then the insurance company deciding who needs surgery and who doesn't insted of the doctor. Clinton tired to push health reform thru and it just didn't work. I hope Obama's plan dies as well. America just can't afford it!!
