What year of mirror is this?
« on: June 29, 2009 - 10:38:28 PM »
Hello all!
I'm looking for a pasenger side chrome mirror to match what's on my 1970 Challenger.
After looking at the P&G web site I don't think it's correct for a 1970? Screw centers are about 3" What year is this mirror? I'm thinking 71-74?

Thanks for the reply's! I didn't think it was for a 70. I'm not to fussy if it's not correct. I just want a match. Anyone with a 71 -74 can you measure the screw centers to see if it's the same?

I have been trying to ID what mirrors are on my '73. My screw center to center measurement is 3". This measurement matches the spacing on the nutserts in the door. I am assuming the doors are '73 doors. I have included pictures of the part number and date code on the base of the pass. mirror. I couldn't find the number in the 70-71,72,73 parts books. I also have a photo showing the length of the base (6 1/4"). Not sure if any of this info will help you. Any help anyone can give me would be appreciated.

All the photos did not post. Here are the rest. I hope!
Do any of you fine members know how to read the date code in the picture? I have never seen this type of dating system with letters instead of numbers.

Thanks MEK. Can you tell me how you can tell?
Also, the passenger side mirror is loose. Can I break the mirror (to gain access to the attaching screws) to take the pivot assembly out to tighten it up.Does anyone make a glue on replacement mirror for me to put back on when I reassemble the mirror? I thought I saw something in a Mopar mag a while ago.
Thanks again!

The 71-74 Mirror has the same bolt pattern as the 70, only it has a longer base. I have a 70, but I put 71-74 mirrors on it because I liked the longer base(cheaper too).

You can break the passenger's side mirror to take out the assembly. I was lucky enough once to slide a flat blade screw driver under each side to remove the screws without breaking the glass. It wasn't fun!!   :eek7:  The thing is, I have no advice on how you could tighten it up. I took mine off to have it re-chromed. To answer your question, I have seen the mirror glass for sale on E-Bay.

EDIT: This is a link to the 70 E-Body mirrors...
