I bought a new project Challenger today
« on: June 30, 2009 - 01:21:41 AM »
I picked up a project Challenger today and all the extra parts from a 74 Challenger stripped out parts car. I had asked what the challenger was worth in the whats it worth section and told everyone one I could pick it up for around $4,000 for the Challenger and all the parts. I' attach some pictures and some of the new parts were seat covers, carpet, headliner, door panels, hood emblems, arm rests, fuel sending unit, dash cap, battery tray, interior screw kit, headers, and gas cap. I got all kinds of extra used parts with the car including extra flat hood, doors, 318 & 727 transmission, rallye gauge cluster with switch panel, lite bar, and left hand heater panel. Extra 3 speaker dash pad, right and left hand outside chrome mirrors, extra steering colum, extra 71-74 exhaust manifolds, rear valance with exhaust openings, extra header panel with grille, and a extra 8 3/4 489 case rear end with 3.23 suregrip drum to drum. I have many extra trim parts and who knows what else and I will be going through everything tuesday.

I'm glad everyone thinks I got a good deal as I was having 2nd thoughts about buying the Challenger. I sorted and put away all the parts and the original engine today which ended up having no VIN number on the pad next to the oil pan. I even pulled the spark plugs and put some oil down each cylinder as the engine has not been started in about 2 years. Will turn it over by hand in the morning and if everythin g goes as planned I'll prime the oil pump and try to start the 360 up. Today I found more new items including new gas shocks, U-joints, 360 hood emblems, transmission filter, felpro head gaskets, and mopar gas tank filler tube seal. I also went through lots of used parts and found a inside hood release cable complete with latch, newer speedometer cable, glove box door, transmission crossmember, extra starter & alternator, emergency brake assembly with cable, extra wiper arms, brake booster with master cylinder, and extra floor shift parts from a 70 e-body. Lots of extra parts and I have enough extra drivetrain parts for a complete e-body.

Mike I plan on building it so Brandon can drive it and he is going to help. It won't get done like my other cars it is just to much time to put into a car we want to drive and enjoy. See you wed at Ryan's house as I'm off work.
