OK. On page 85 of Paul Zazarine's famous book, "
Muscle Car Color History, Barracuda and Challenger", Paul goes into detail about the Special Edition package and the "formal roof styling" called for on the vinyl top. He describes the smaller backlight (styled by Mack King) and then quotes Carl Cameron as Carl reflects on his Special Edition seam pattern design decisions.
"The location of the seams on the standard vinyl roof run from front to rear," Cameron explained. "The SE seams ran from the windshield back beside the rear window to the base of the vinyl roof. This made the top appear lower in profile because you read the seams. It also looked wider from the rear."Now, we have most of the
original top, part of it seen here:
and you see the seams on that top ran through the window and picked back up below.
Now consider this SE:
The Seam is running down the side, like it was described.
and this one, thats been around for a while:
But you can see it is intersecting the window, as is this one:
Then I saw the one NZ showed... not an SE right? and it made me wonder.....
It seems the seams can be seen either way. Does anyone know for certain? Does anyone have any pics of the official SE seam pattern?
