What do you use on your jackstands?
« on: July 02, 2009 - 07:12:01 PM »
Does anyone use a rubber pad between the jackstands and car?  I just had my rearend powder coated, kinda want to keep it nice.  Funny since the rest of the car is a mess.

Anyone know where to find 1/2" block of semi-hard rubber to use for jacking and for the stands?

I use little pieces of oak from an old skid. They conformed to the shape of the jack stands' saddles the first time under the car and sit nicely now without falling off.

I always say I'm going to get something to put on my jack stands and always end up putting a folded up shop towel on them. Next time I'm at HF I'll check it out.

Thx for the info,

picked up a set today.  Don't fit my jackstands the greatest but definitely will work.

You could use a piece of mud flap off a big truck or maybe a cut a portion out of a rubber floor mat.

I used shop towels and they didn't work so well

I have cut pieces off an old rubber racing innertube and it worked fine.
