 :iagree:  I was wondering that also.  It appears fromthe pic that there is a fan shroud in place, yes?  :dunno:

Am pretty sure its the correct pump. Ck out the vanes. This is what FlowKooler sells as their top of the line pump for the 340

I just ran some temps and it does look like the electric gauge is way the frick off. According to the turkey baster, the coolant is 90* cold so thats my start point.  Here are temps after 2 min idling with AC on:

and finally at 15 mins. Probe was submereged probably 2.5 inches into coolant and tank was open and starting to bubble up.

There are 35* increments on the SunPro so that last reading from it was 245* while the probe showed 209*. Also just after I took the last readings I ran the engine up to around 2500 rpm and held it there for around 20-30 seconds and the temp started dropping on the probe. So is the probe readings indicative of what your SB cars would be on hot summer day? Having the system pressured with lid on would drop temps slightly right?

Well from the front of the pump the pump rotates clockwise so the vane sort of look backwards to me , the lip at the end of the vane folads away from the flow not into it
 Having the guage read more than 10* off is not good either , to be running at just over 200 & dropping with RPM is in the right range & the factory guage looks to be reading about right , I wouldn`t be worried until the factory guages is well above 1/2
 adding the pressurized cap may not change the temp reading but it will prevent it boiling at 220*

I just looked at pictures of pumps for '73 340, '95 360 & '99 360... all the veins angle the same way

so my temps are about right then for idling?  Here is the Mildon Super Cool pump next to my Flow Kooler. The stock vanes are facing the same direction.

I really havent driven it since I put the carb on to tell. Am waiting on the regulator to come in. (you may recall it flooded out at the end of my block recently) It does drop when I run the idle up to 1500-2500 so I would assume it will cool down when driving it as well.

I also bought a SPAL 16" pusher that I plan to put in between the radiator and the condensor. To make it fit, I have to build some U-channels that will stand the radiator 1.5" off the core support. I will build some baffling to close the gaps at the top. I sure would like to know that my temps are basically in line before I proceed though. Would love to have my car be able to sit idling for 20 minutes and never top 190*

So I am still running too hot at 209* idling right? Am going to pull my tstat this week and try again but I did that before and it still ran hot.

Well I cannot explain it but I have seen similar engines run completely differently , for example my 440 Duster would barely warm up & would sit at 180 * all the time while my friends 440 Duster making less power was always in the 200- 210 range
 bigger rads & more efficient fans obviously help adding air flow & coolant capacity , , my friend locally has a 340 Dart & it is the same as yours , always above 200 idling but it drops as soon as you move but his rad is on the smaller side for sure .
 generally removing the T stat hurts cooling as the water mover to fast through the rad & doesn`t cool as much as it should , the idea is to swap the water out , letit sit in the rad for a minute or two with the stat closed then swap the warm water with the cool water , not just cycle through constantly
 I am not sure what else to recommend you try other than a larger capacity rad

Get a good gauge and drive it. It has been 100 degree every day here for the past month. 210 degrees at idle is not the end of the world, especially when it cools off driving around. Do you have the A/C running during all this as well? If so then you have nothing to worry about. Don't waste your time pulling the thermostat.
