i know a lot are wondering

what is a cheaper option than buying aluminum heads? 906,915....?, what size valves, what do we tell the head shop to do? looking for performance. Just putting it out there for general knowledge.

nothing is cheaper then the stealth heads from 440 source ,
the best heads are the closed chamber iron heads , I add hard exhaust seats & larger valves to them & spend about 10 hrs porting them & i have very specific ways to port them to get excellent results from them , typically a set will run $1200 to port machine , add hard seat & new valves + you need springs to match your cam

Chryco, how are the heads from Aerohead?  Good?  Bad?  They have the closed chamber design.

Thanks!  Reason I was wondering about Aerohead because when I got my 383 engine, it had no heads and was looking for replacement for them and found those guys.  Didn't order from them so I have no idea what they are like to deal with.

do they work though. i have read other threads about how they had to be modified and finding the right kind of gasket and nothing but bad stuff about 440source. has anyone here used them and can provide numbers?

i am definately shopping around, would love to find a set of good heads (whether RPMs or whatever) for about the same price as 440 source. still have to wait till i get that kind of money but the time will come. I am just looking for what all options i have and what all could be done with a factory set of heads.

well I have used a # of the 440 source kits with no issues , Just because they blow up doesn`t mean that the engine was machined or clearanced properly + I personally have never had an issue with dealing with Brandon , he has treated me well . On the other hand I would never use a set of his rockers  & while the price on the heads cannot be beat they still may not be worth the $$ , I have continued to use Iron heads with a lot of port work on most of my builds or I have stepped up to better heads than the Stealth or Eddys if I am using alum heads

:iagree: They are both clones of the stockers but Iron heads will make more power with all else being equal and don't require a compression increase.
