Spiders......
« on: July 06, 2009 - 12:43:58 PM »
OK, I'll admit it... I am scared of spiders!   I'm 6'4", 275lbs, 59 years old, taught high school shop classes for 35 years, raised 4 kids, have the ex from he!! and I'm not afraid of anything else (except clowns of course, they are evil)

Now, here is my problem.  I'm working on my Cuda in an old detatched garage filled with all the stuff that accumulates in a garage.  Unfortunately that accumulation includes spiders  :22yikes:  I don't mind them from a distance, but when I'm under the car and all of a sudden one of the nasty little beasts decides to crawl on me. I almost hurt myself getting out from under the car!  And they always leave those icky webby things all over the place.

I know that there are almost no spiders here (Vancouver, BC) that are going to hurt me, and the spiders around here are tiny compared to what you guys in the warmer places have to contend with, but they are still a pain and I am a chicken.

My question to my E Body buddies is "WHAT CAN I DO???"    :clueless:   How do I get rid of them, other than burning down my garage.  My shop vac is full of their dead (I hope) bodies, but their buddies still hide and creep out at the most annoying times!  I used to smuggle "Bug Bombs" across the border from the US but I can't get them any more.  What do you do?

I`m pretty sure you won`t get rid of the spiders...  You might want to tackle this from the other side... do something about your spider-phobia...    :aarg:

is pesticide illegal there?   we have a spider spray here. and remember , spiders eat bugs , so there must be alotta food around.  check online for natural repellants , im sure there are a ton of em. and lastly , spiders do like trees , maybe if you werent so big.....  :-D      best of luck.

I use spider bombs to deal with this issue.  I'm not very fond of spiders either.   :grinno:

New garage went up, spiders moved in. I had a black widow for almost two years, kind of as a pet. Forgot to feed her in the Winter....oops. Pics later if I can find 'em.
My name is Steve and I'm addicted to Challengers...

No joke. I have about a million of them in my shop.  Some put me in bed for 2 days when I get bitten by them. I just left a job in Mexico that had trantuala spiders all over the plant and roads.  I killed dozens today just getting to my tools. I am always gone , so they seem to take charge.

My wife found a black widow spider while cleaning up today. She woosed out and quit cleaning that area. I guess I better find it and get rid of it.    Spiders?  I got spiders!!!  and spider bites.

I use bug bombs set of in pairs  . when ever i buy a new project i set two bombs of in my car trailer just before i leave the pick up location . buy the time i get home every things dead in the car .its hard to kill hard body spiders like black widows so if you place plastic over an all windows down and hood and deck open car the fog will stay contained ,usually one can in the car and one under the tunnel area does great ,i have killed snakes and scorpions its that toxic under plastic . or like others said make friends with the little guys .
