'69-'70 440 six pack kickdown ?
« on: July 08, 2009 - 08:39:49 AM »
Hey gang..
This is concerning the '69-'70 model year, '71 was completely different. I should know the answer to this since I owned one for over a decade, but here's my question. I know the carb rod in the automatic kickdown system for 440 six packs is different than the 4bbl counterpart. But, is the tranny adjustable rod that goes from the engine bellcrank to bellhousing pivot different between the 4bbl and 6bbl?

I'm thinking of putting my six pack setup on my Daytona and need at the very least, the carb rod. It was previously on a 4-speed car of mine, so I didn't need to worry about that. Now I have an automatic.

Thanks..
Troy

I just went from the single 4bbl to the 3x2bbl setup a couple months ago.  I had to fabricate a new carb to linkage rod from 5/16 rod stock and increase the length of the "secondary" rod by an inch or two by using a short section of threaded rod and a long "coupler nut".  All the materials were available at the local hardware store for less than 10 bucks, and have worked flawlessly for hundreds of miles now including a few legs of the Power Tour.
