It's time to restart my thread.
It's been quite a while since I posted any progress, and almost 1 year without any major work due to a wicked back injury.
The project is entitled "desert resurrection" this 1973 challenger was purchase new in Arizona, and lived a hard life, only to be left for dead in the desert. I bought this and another for a steal. I had them shipped to Michigan where I began the evaluation. I would soon determine that the car that looked the worst was the better car to build. Much to the chagrin of my wife, the project was started shortly after we had our second child.
As many of you know, life is tough. I have 2 young kids, a wife who works and goes to school, and a job at Chrysler that is very demanding. If I am not helping out with family stuff, or working, I am spending time in the garage, in the basement, working, restoring or researching on the Internet about the challenger.
I do design sidework to help fund my project. I do some hot rod sketching, display stands, furniture, toy design, product design, whatever pays for car parts.
My skills are in fabrication, I love working sheetmetal, i dig shaping metal. Many years ago, I painted cars for a living. I got away from it for a while- it tends to shorten a lifespan..
Years go by, and i decide to build another car, this time, the metal fab clicks like never before. So, now I enjoy the challenge of making panels return to their original shape. - the metal speaks to me.
I am methodical, and I love detail! In this thread you will see some comprehensive detail - body, paint, and assembly.
Enjoy!
