Well, I spent this weekend wheeling off the roof structure. Not bad, but tiring on the arms.
I think my grinder has gotten out of balance, and it has started to vibrate, making it difficult to hold after long periods of time. :violin: :blah: :blah: :blah:
So I had stripped the structure, put a rust converter over the bare metal, primed it, and then dusted it with paint. Looks great, no more rust!
Roof skin is next!

Here is the last of the cleanup work for the body

Here is the ever so delicate skin that I have (used, not new)

And....

We have a light coat of paint to prevent future rust.

I need to get a few strips of heavier gauge aluminum and clamp  them to the flange of the roof skin in order to do the final work on the skin. Need to do a little planishing, a little wheeling, a little drinking, and a little grinding.

2 steps forward, 2 steps back.

Had to spend about 1.5 hrs wheeling down the roof skin, trying to get her clean, only to realize, I would have to pend hours fabbing the edges to get it so I woulnot have to worry about it anymore.. Damn.
Put it in primer and will hit the classifieds. Good work for someone who wants an inexpensive roofskin, or sections of the roof.

pics to come

Then the car wouldn't start.  :swear: Battery is dead.
NOw it backfires. Damn timing must be off. oh well.

I'll call Dave next week.

Wheeled the inside of the roof.

then etch primed it.

Found a few spots that would need more fabrication. At this point, its not worth my time and effort. I have many hours invested in this roof, and would need many more to make it happen. looks like a new roof skin is in order. :banghead: :swear:
