Mig wont penetrate that bracket worth a darn.. Did it 3 seperate times.
Found the source of the distortion.....

The lower mounting flange the left of the two larger holes was distorted 1/4" or more rearward.
Will end up cutting down the other bracket to match.

oh well...............

My mig doesn't get hot enough if you plug into a wimpy circuit and or use a cheap extension cord with it. I plug right into a dedicated 20 amp circuit. I can weld 1/4 steel in one pass with my Lincoln Sp-100, 110v welder.  Try it again without an extension cord. I'm guessing that you're using one?

Thanks for the advice!
Rob If I dont use an extension cord, I blow the circuit.
If I do, I can weld and get OK penetration.  I have a two other factors that contribute-I  had to adjust the settings, & I also have an extra long Mig feed hose.  (Miller Cricket 110)
I am getting an electrician to come out and install  a dedicated circuit in the garage so that this does not happen in the future.
I typically don't weld the heavier stock at home. It pisses me off that this happens
I'll take it to work and have it re-welded. grrrr...

Thanks again for your input!

Pic from the Left to the right of the tail panel with 5/16" removed from the bracket.
Seems like this takes forever!
Bumper on, bumper off. Bumper on,adjust bumper.. bumper off. Adjust bumper, BUmper on, Bumper off, adjust bumper..

Overall- Now the right side needs to come toward the body.

More to come.

after a few weeks recovering from some back pain, I'm back on the car.
Now that the bumper is alligned, I have moved on to bigger and better things---
well not really, but it was a nice try.
I spent a day fabbing up some bumperette valence fillers.
I made them to nest into the original openings, to be welded in place with minimal warpage.
Pics to follow.
Patterns available for those that are interested.

Dual Exhaust-Yes. gotta have it.
but not there yet. When I do get some exhaust, then I'll fab the cutouts.
Round is most likely. I think it's cool.
Aliod- It aint easy. Its a slow and steady project. Somedays far too slow. I wish I was  further along

If you use the exaust I gave you, then you won't need cut outs.  Looking good Dan

Chris- yes, I absolutely intend on using the exhaust system of yours!
Eventually making dual exhaust to the valence.

Some better pics of the bumperette valence fillers

Yes, I had to adjust the A line on the QP again, just to make sure it was right on.
