S.E. Front Valance Trim
« on: July 13, 2009 - 06:25:08 PM »
I was looking at the latest repro stuff from B E & A at Carlisle and was happy to see they are making the 2 piece front valance (gravel pan) chrome for 70 S.E.'s, WSS's and A63 cars. However, theirs were done in satin anodize and I recall the originals being bright and shiny (brite-dip anodize).

It's been many years since I held that NOS set in my hands, so who can help with the correct info?

Thanks

You have a taker here.    :bricks1:

I don't want to mention what I paid for those pieces NOS style.   :eek7:

I see P.G. Classics is re-pro-ing them now. To answer your question, they are indeed bright like the outer side of the headlight bezels.

Im glad someone else is repopping these.  When BE&A came out with these they were originally $175 and almost overnight they went to $275.    I actually blinked at the $175 so I just couldnt see $275.   I wonder what the other people are selling them for???

Yea, I looked at the PG Classics site, they are selling at the identical $275.   I imagine BE&A had the original tooling on the product.   PG more than likely buying theirs from them.   After all this is a limited sell kind of thing.  People wanting SE front valance molding are few and far in between.   I saw some originals just last year, and they did indeed have a higher gloss than these satin ones.   For me $275 is just too rich for non original looking ones.   I know they dont get rich off selling these limited demand items, and that probably why they have to make good money off the ones they sell.

Just my opinion, I do appreciate vendors making otherwise almost impossible items for the Mopar hobby.

I think PG and BE & A are the same folks, but not 100% sure.

I commented to the guy at the booth that I thought they should be shiny. He said all the used examples they used were so road-rashed that they more or less guessed at the satin anodize. Perhaps they need an e-mail or ten regarding the error?

I had no idea they were $275. I sold the NOS ones for less than that back in the 90's. Chinese tooling and production does not deserve THAT high a price. IMHO, $100/set would be fair.

I Just opened mine from PG and they are the dull anodized.  They are not even close to the polished look of all my other pieces.  MCB performance poished and repaired all my other trim.  But the PG piece is very much "duller" than the other stuff i have.  Just an FYI .....  Peter Gee owns PG Classics in Canada.  Mike Ross owns B/E&A I have delt with both of them.  Mike is a great guy to work wth.  Peter and his team of unahppy people in Canada are not so nice...no customer service.  their attitiude rhymes with bucket.   :smilielol: But I thin Mike is the wholesaler of the PG classic parts in the US.  Basically the same prices sometimes he is a littlle higher, bit you get it quicker and dont have to deal with customs issues.  One cool thing that Mike does have is pig tail sockets for the front parking lights for the challengers.  If you send him your housings, he will fit new pigtails and sockets into them...like $20 or $25 for the pair.  Good deal I got mine done tha they are great!!!
