Pistol Grip Shifter Rebuild (Help Needed)
« on: July 14, 2009 - 08:38:51 PM »
I'd like to rebuild my pistol grip shifter but not quite sure how difficult it is.  Anyone have any tips?

the handle or the mechanism ?
the mechanism is rwlatively easy just remove the 7/16 nut & plate from the side to side pivot push out the sleeve in the top bolt hole , pry the body apart & remove all of the levers in one piece , keep everthing in order , clean & re-grease everthing & reassemble

Mechanism.  I did remove the nut and long bolt but wasn't sure how it came apart from there, and if it would be difficult to reassemble.  I see where the outer U-shaped bracket can be pried to release the internal components.  I'll try that.  I assume a standard bearing grease would work?  Thanks.

Shifter attaches to a bracket on the tail shaft through 2 bolts.  Remove the 3 linkages and these bolts and it should slide out.
