Getting me a coronet!
« on: July 18, 2009 - 08:21:30 PM »
I found a '68 coronet at a junk yard about 3yrs. ago. Back then he wanted $2500 for it. I said that WAY to much for it, and that was that. Well I was out there today looking at it, and the owner came out. He said " What would you pay for it?" I told him every thing that was wrong with the car, and I would'nt pay over 1000 for it. Befor I could finish, he said "SOLD!" So if all go's well I will be picking it up next weekend.

The car is a 1968 coronet 440, it's got the original 383 2bbl, auto trans. It needs alot of work, but I plan on makeing it into a R/T or a Super Bee.

I love the 68 Coronet 440's. I've been looking for a driver, but they're always too far away.

Awesome!!

my cousin has a real 68 Bee and trunk lids are up toward $1000 for a nice one. AMD isnt tooling anytime soon..

I hope you find one, doors are the same in 69 but the door lock is in the middle of the door  :eek4:

Do you know yet how the car was equipped when it was shipped from the factory?  That's always interesting to find out. Are you planning to resto completely or turn it into a street machine?

Got a pretty good start on my M46 optioned Barracuda restoration but now it is on hold till I can gather more funds.  Still need a few parts for it.  SIU Graduate 75 AAS Automotive Tech, 94 BS Advanced Tech Studies, 1997 MSED Workforce Education and Development

I bought a '69 Coronet 440 with a 440 4 bbl motor about 12 years ago and imported it back to Australia with a few other cars. Checked it out, paid the deposit and left it at the car yard for about a week while I purchased a couple of other cars.
Picked up the car and drove it to the docks for loading, didn't check under the hood did I. When I was back in Australia I found that the car yard had switched out the 440 and installed a 318    :faint:  Too late they are no longer there,   :stomp:  the only car I ever bought from a dealer in America, I have always rechecked since.
Enjoy your restoration, they are a great looking car.   :2thumbs:
