rear splash pan
« on: July 19, 2009 - 07:40:21 PM »
Hi All,
Been a while , but I finally got miss Racheal back from the scum bag that was doing the body work and paint. Yup, you guessed it, he was another hacker! I ain't happy. She came out HORRIBLE!  :villagers: Does anyone have a picture of how the rear splashpan attaches to the rear quarters so I can print a copy and shove it down this idiots freakin throat? He bent the tabs over and used self tapping screws to secure them together, then fibre glassed the pan to the rear quarters completely covering the seamlines. Now I can't install the gas tank or the rear bumper! And thats just the tip of the iceberg!  :villagers:

Here's a couple  from my cuda.  I don't have the clips on that the bolts go into on or the brackets  along the top that the top bolts go into. That really sucks. Do you have some pics  of your seamless rear valance??  That had to be one of those WTF moments when you saw that.

That really bites the big one.  This is one reason I have been doing all my work myself.  When I first got my car, I had a really bad experience with a shop and since then, I have been scared to let another shop have it.  They left all of my parts out in the rain for about 6 months.  Everytime I would visit, the car had been untouched and they told me the parts were in storage.  I got tired of waiting and found out about my parts when I pulled the plug on the shop.  Never again...

Here is a picture of my rear valance.  The rear pan is suppose to mount with studs, not bolts.

Thanks,

Daniel

Thank you guys very much. The pics are great! I definitely did a W.T.F. when I saw what he did. Thats not even the half of it. When I get home from work tonight I'll post some pic.s. I'm really let down. You would think after two and a half years, this thing would be show ( Barrette Jackson) quality. This is what I get for trusting a friend of a friend!
Thanks again.

Not sure about the gas tank but the bumper is doable with it on.  Attach it to the brackets then bolt up the brackets to the rear cross.

You can use the Husqvarna to cut it out. :violin:

Sorry for the bad joke, how does the paint look?  Going to be tough but doable.

A lot of orange peel and fish eye. Also has pits that look like he tried to spray over a pile of dust or something and then blew it away. Didn't fix the hood around the emblem areas. Welded them, but didn't blend them out. Dropped the hood and bent the drivers rear corner up, but painted it anyway, what the heck, I'd never even notice! Heres some more pics. Hope that come out.

Holy cow! and WTF.  :scared:What kind of idiot does that to a rear valence. How hard is it to ask a question
I can't stand seeing that done on 68-70 Chargers, much less a cuda.
I feel for ya and I hope you can enlist the help of a local member to help you out, heck if you lived near me I would be there in a second!

Like I said, this is what I get for being trusting! He actually thinks I'm goint to pay him the remainder of our agreed upon bill for this sh_tty hack job! I wish I could afford a lawyer, I'd take him to court and get my freakin down payment back!  :swear:

Wow, that blows. I'm with the guys on the D.I.Y. thing. It takes longer, but you learn a lot and know it will go the way you want.

I do collision and paint work after my day job, and I would never dream of doing that kind of job on someone's car....no matter how new, old, rare, etc.  Even if the customer asks me to do a job like that, I won't do it!!!
