4001 4002 headlamps

I am looking to replace my 71 cuda headlights 4001, 4002, with aftermarket headlamps. (Are there new part numbers for these?) Im looking to do the HIDs or the projectors. Thanks for the help!

there are kits to use HID lights , you need to wire in a transformer to power them & you lose the High beam feature

Hmm. I kinda like the high beam feature. I know they make projectors for the other cuda headlights. Know is the make any for these?

This is a site you should look at.  You probably won't end up with HIDs if you follow his advice (unless something has changed in the last year or so) but he can point out (and provide)  the excellent quality halogen replacements and the pitfalls of many lighting options.

I have a matched set of Carello H1 and H4 halogens that are (well, were!! it'll be a while before the car's running again!) excellent.

What did you find out about the Cebie's.
I had a set on my 70 cuda back in 1977, they where great!

I use aftermarket H4 housings and relays for all of my headlights. The hi-lows on the outside of the top pic, are Pilots that I got from JC Whitney. The Hi beams are sealed Halogens.




The 4 on the bottom pic, I got from Ebay.  With the H4 bulbs in the center, I turn the connector over and don't use the center low-beam pins.  With H4 bulbs, there is a huge selection of wattage and brightnesses. These have a slight blue tint.
