What is the cutoff date? I am not sure what year it would be considered. What would it be worth as a shortblock 440 standard bore?

It would be considered a 72 block. In front of the intake valley there is a pad that will have a letter followed by 440. On yours it should be an "H440" which will designate that it is a 72 block.

it could be either / or - if you are talking about the casting date?
You need to look for the G or H on the top pad & the VIN, with those, you will know for sure.
