Hello
« on: July 21, 2009 - 09:03:50 PM »
What's going on all?! Just wanted to introduce myself. Picked up a '74 Barracuda less than a week ago and excited to get some work done! This is my first muscle car (waited long enough). I've done minimal work on cars in the past but I've heard this is the place to be if you have one of these bad boys. Guy before me brought this back from dirt and made some modifcations. Runs good but will need a valve job done on it over the winter so my first question will be; what do you think that will run so I don't get hosed? Minimal body work to be done, some interior though. Siked to be here and I'm sure it will be a ton of help.

PS-guy said this color was Du Pont Queen's Gold but have not found any color by that name...Thinking it's more Candy Orange?

Best

Welcome to the site and I know you will enjoy your time here,   :2thumbs:  It has been a long time since I did the valve job on a car.  I will let someone else chime in on that one.  Not sure what color that is but the car looks real good.  Way to go and I know if you do some reading on here you will learn a ton of info.  I think each of us learn more each day on here.   :2cents:
Got a pretty good start on my M46 optioned Barracuda restoration but now it is on hold till I can gather more funds.  Still need a few parts for it.  SIU Graduate 75 AAS Automotive Tech, 94 BS Advanced Tech Studies, 1997 MSED Workforce Education and Development

Nice looking car.  Heads redone can cost about 6-7 hundred for everything.

Beautiful car...looks like you waited for the right one (something most of us wish we'd have done)  Looks pretty orange to me, I'm voting for your guess.

As for your engine compartment. . . . . .

Beautiful car! Welcome to CC.com!! Yes, this is the best Cuda', Challenger site bar none and the friendliest!! To me the color looks like a burnt orange. We have a lot of Mopar knowledge here. Please feel free to post questions in the specific tech areas. The more specific you are, the better the answer you will get. I've had a TON of help here and the folks here are like family!! I'd love to see some more pics of the interior and engine!! What part of the country are you from??

Thanks, I'll post some additional pics soon.  Have some pitting in the trunk so first step in a couple days is do some fiberglass work. I'm from Long Island, NY.

Welcome!

Looks like burnt orange with a lot of pearl. Another NYer, eh? I used to be an upstater and there are other members from NY, including Long Gisland.

Welcome. Sure is a good lookin car. Are you gonna pull the heads off yourself. If so,then it could run 300-400 bucks with gaskets. If your gonna have someone else do the work you'll probably be lookin at almost a grand.
If I cant fix it, it's broke
