Gold coin
« on: July 24, 2009 - 01:22:31 PM »
I just got my mail and there was a priority mail envelope w/ a 1oz gold coin wrapped in several blank papers. The return address doesnt match anyone i know. Gold is running in the 900 range per oz. Has anyone else had this happen to them. :clueless:

Might want to check on eBay and see if one sold recently and the seller got the accounts mixed up or something.

It could happen..........

The same exact thing happened to me except mine was hand delivered by a supermodel in a bikini --- then my alarm went off and I woke up.

Well I mapquested the return address and theres no houses near it, No info inside, nothing. It comes up near columbus OH. and the closest relative is in mansfield I'm stumped. Unless my wifes bro and sisters get one then I think we'll figure it out.

Man,
That's a real mystery. I would definitely be at awe and would try to find the source. Maybe someone paying it forward. Obviously not something from a high volume mail order business. Now you have us all wondering like you. If you find out, let us in on the amazing mystery!! :money:

Sorry barry is this your coin, should I put it back in the mail return to sender?  :smilielol: If only my wife would let me spend it at the swap meet tomorrow at the red barns.

Wow. Thats really cool and weird at the some time.

Have you told anyone recently that you are having financial difficulties?

Did you look very carefully at the delivery name and address, to see if there was some type of mixup in the zip or house number?

Was your name on the envelope?

I know this may be a long shot, but my sister occasionally gets unsolicited coins in the mail from a coin company. Of course they are always accompanied by order/payment information. Maybe they forgot the paperwork.

I'm thinking family (maybe parents or in-laws?).

I also think the ebay scenario is highly possible. Buyer wins auction. Buyer sends payment, but forgets to include shipping info (happens all the time). Seller looks up buyers information on ebay, transposes a couple of letters/numbers, and winds up with your information. Seller sends coin to you. You do the happy money dance.

Some guys have all the luck. If that kind of thing would happen to me, the item would be something like a fossilized piece of dinosaur poop, or maybe a cow patty shaped like Elvis' head. lol
