Challenger Movies
« on: July 24, 2009 - 02:16:55 PM »
My company just moved us west 2 1/2 hours from my home, so I have taken up an Apartemnt until I get back home on the weekends. I have been watching some movies, I first seen Vanishing Point for the First Time last week, and just this week watched Death Proof, man what a chase sceene between a White Challenger Vanishing Point look alike against a 69 (?) Charger, the movie says its a 18 minute chase, and it was awesome. Good Movie, started out really slow, but it got going, a liittle gore, some mouth washing words, but get to the chase - AWESOME

What other movies are there anyone knows about?

there are 2 versions of "Vanishing Point", the original, 1971, with Barry Newman, and the newer version, 1997, with Viggo Mortenson. Other Mopar movies are "Dirty Mary, Crazy Larry", 1974, Dodge Charger, Peter Fonda is the hot-shot driver. "Bullitt", 1968, great chase scene between McQueen, who drives a Mustang and who did his own stunt driving, and a 1968 Charger with 2 bad guys in it, won't tell you what happens in case you want to watch the movie. I think a few of the newer "Too Fast, Too Furious" have some Mopar's in them as well but I think those are all souped up, nitrous eating. I may be wrong though.

I'll have to go along with KZ here.

Both versions of Vanishing Point are different, but worth watching. Dirty Mary, Crazy Larry is a real good flick. '67 Chevy and later a '69 Charger. As far as the Fast and Furious series, there are 4 of them out now, but the second movie called 2Fast2Furious features a really nice Hemi Challenger.    :woo:

There are tons but some have much more screen time than in others. This place has a decent listing:

Very good listing!

The movie Running on Empty is an Austalian movie.  It's not bad.  The Challenger belongs to the bad guy, good guy drives I think an Austalian Ford Falcon XA 4 door car.  I found this movie at a World of Wheels show from a guy that has a big video set up.

I'll have to dig out the "Drive" movie.  Isn't there something weird with the Challenger in that movie, like it's a '72 with a '70 front end?  :clueless:

Some of these movies might be found in a place that sells used DVDs.  :2cents:

A lot of them were barely lucky enough to make it to VHS let alone DVD. However, I've had a lot of luck picking some of them up like SB72 at different car shows where there's usually at least one guy selling bootlegs and whatnot. Of course, a lot of flicks can be found online now so good luck and enjoy. I know I do.
