outer wheel house removal question
« on: July 24, 2009 - 02:31:37 PM »
Just wanted to ask how everyone that changes out there outer wheel house gets the front part separted from the 2 pieces of metal it is sandwiched between? I know there are spot welds but the wheel house metel is between 2 other pieces and seems hard to separate without bending the other metal. Here is a picture of the area I working on removing.

I have always drilled the spot welds, and folded the outer layer up so I could get the wheel house in there.  You may have to trim the lip on the wheel house a little to get it in.

You could also cut and butt weld the wheel house in that spot - to save from having to bend/rip up that area.

Thanks I think I will cut it as it looks like lots of work getting the old one out drilling the spot welds and prying the lip up to get to the center metal which is the outer wheel house.
