1974 Charger

Hey all, Just got back from a vacation visiting the family in the UP of Michigan and ran across a '74 Charger out behind a shed that is for sale. It has the bulge hood, 360 four barrel, column shift automatic. Pretty much all original with the usual rust in the quarters. Interior is pretty decent. 82K miles. Comes with two NOS fenders, one NOS quater panel and a NOS deck lid. The guy offered it to me for 2K. Does that sound like a reasonable price for a '74?

Thanks for the input, I guess I'm going to have to make a road trip and bring it home. It's about a 1200 mile round trip. The guy also has a 68 Charger R/T but I haven't got him to give me a price on it yet. It's been sitting for more than 25 years. I think he bought it new. He's the second owner on the 74.

 I have never been a fan of 73-74 Chargers. IMO they Ruined the Body lines and made them ugly and heavy.

its only 2 grand!!!!

this is a no brainer.

fan or not, the flip value with minimal cleanup is not to be ignored.
those cars are the next in line collectibles.

i read all the collector mags and have seen a resurgance of later model cars, and even trucks entering the market at silly pricing.

you buy that car jay!!!

im not even suggesting selling it, i'd drive the wheels off of it.

 Don't get me wrong I love 2nd and third generation Chargers, especially the 71-72 Body styles.  However, to the untrained eye they "look the same".

Same here.  Personally, I wouldn't take it even if it was free given I just don't care at all for this body style, and then then theres the whole issue of throwing good money into it which would just kill me.  Did I mention I just don't care for this car?

Not my favorite Mopar for sure, but it sure isn't the ugliest  . And that one looks like a complete, solid start ( I like THAT one for some reason...).

If I didn't already have more cars than places to put them or time to work on them I'd have offered him $1,500 and bought it even if he didn't go for it.

That is a smoking hot deal. Heck, almost any rust bucket mopar for under $2k is a fair deal. The fact that this one is intact with extra parts just makes it a real good deal.

It has always struck me funny how opinions of cars outside the 68-72 time frame tends to be so unfavorable to so many. Kind of ironic considering how many of Petty's victories came in the pre 68 models and the third generation chargers. But, it is that way with many makes, not just mopars.
