Wow.

Hopefully some of the stuff that got carried away is in the hands of people that care. If so, I am sure we will here about some of it sooner or later...

Some good news, a friend forwarded this email he received from a buddy with direct knowledge:

Countering the alarmist tone of the thetruthaboutcars editorial you sent, with a phone call to my contacts at the Chrysler Historical Collection I found that the real Chrysler archives are in unviolated, untampered, wholesome condition.

The Engineering Library at Chrysler Technical Center did take the hit of closure and contents disbursement as part of the ongoing draconian expense reductions.  However this was preceded by Brandt Rosenbush, Manager of CHC, combing over its contents and sending to CHC anything that might be of archival value.

While writing my book I spent some time at the Engineering Library.  It had an impressive collection of books, periodicals and techincal papers including hundreds, perhaps thousands of SAE papers, but, to my knowlege little, if any, archival-worthy original material.

G-man, I dont see how this info. is trivial.

Thats like telling your parents to F-off after you're born. Where would we be without the past?   :sly:

The article is baseless for the most part. What excessive paper records we destroy are just that: excessive records that have no historic value.
I have been to the archives on a personal tour- the archives are still quite intact, and quite a bit more organized than previously thought. Trust me, the paperwork is more exciting than you think!!!
I have a good relationship with brandt and his team. Brandt knows what he has, and is working diligently to manage it.
Please be asured we know the significance of our history.
Fear not, there are more mopar gurus within the company that are trying to right the wrongs of previous managment, and make sure that collectors and enthusiasts' interest is of the highest priority.

I hate to see history "purged". Then again I never throw away anything.

2008 Challenger = loving every minute of it
1970 Challenger = work in progress
1970 + 2008 Challenger = pure bliss
