I currently have on my cuda (bought it like this)
15x8 Ultra (centerline style) wheels - 3 3/4 inch back spacing
255/60R15 tires
air shocks on the rear
dont like the air shocks b/c they always leak down and then when i go over bumps the tires rub the inside of the fenders. So, stock rallyes have 4.5" backspacing i believe, so i need to change wheels... which is good because i dont like those too much anyway. Now, I've done a bunch of measuring and even talking to american racing about this.. and I dont see how you guys can fit 275's unless you've relocated the springs and gone with a lot of backspacing. I just want to make sure that when i lay out the cash for the wheels I have the most rubber under the rear end as possible. (spring re-lo kit is not out of the question, just seems like i would need even more backspacing, when i already have to custom order wheels b/c american racing doesnt normally make anything over 3 3/4 in the wheels im interested in) here are my numbers:
Brake drum mounting pad to spring 6 1/2 inches
Brake drum mounting pad to outer fender lip (rub point) 5 1/2 inches
Brake drum mounting pad to inner fender well 8 1/4 inches
Total tire width mounted aired up ( measured laying on floor) bulge to bulge 10 1/2 inches
Tire bulge measured from outer edge of wheel lip 3/4 inches
Have 1 1/2 inches of clearance from tire bulge to leaf spring with this setup.
do these numbers seem on-target with anyone else's car?
also according to american racing "You can use a custom offset 15x8 with 4 3/4 backspacing, this way you can run a 255 tire series 50,60, or 70 depending on the heigth you want."
custom wheels sound expensive
