Shop ruined Chally's body lines-help
« on: July 28, 2009 - 04:16:52 PM »
Thanks for looking.  Quick run down...71 Challenger first car saved up for a shop to paint complete.  They had it for a while...saw the poor quality of work performed and pulled the car out. End result is that I need help figuring out how to get the rear quarter panel body line to be as original.  I am talking about the one that starts at the rear moving towards the corner of the window it should fade away before it reaches the corner.  Both sides, this body line fades to a different spot.
What I am hoping for is someone w/ a perfect fender to pls. measure out from the corner window how far until the body line starts to appear?
Does anyone know a real good Mopar friendly Body Shop in GA? :1zhelp:

Give Kim a call at Fairground Automotive in Marietta, Ga.  I work there as Service Manager.  Our body shop did the body/paint work on my '69 Beast and his '69 BB Dart.  We have our own body shop and have been into Mopars for 30+ years.  770-429-1288.    :2thumbs:

The line completely disappears at 6" stops being a sharp angle at 11"

If you want reference pics check out US Car Tool's website.  They're an all mopar shop that posts resto/metalwork progress. Pic 502 under Rick's 70 Challenger project should give you a general idea of where the line starts, but they should match/be close on each side and should stay fairly sharp till it tapers away.  Have you checked the area with a magnet to see if it falls off indicating a bunch of Bondo?  Heck hold a digital cam up in the inside of the quarter and take some pics & see if the area looks like they flubbed up the quarter in that area splicing it.

Any more GA or N. Florida. suggestions for reputable body shops.  Trusting another shop is going to be a tough pill to swallow.
