:clueless:  Just curious, what are these mouldings?  Where on the front end are they?
1972 Dodge Challenger Rallye 340, AT, Code TB3=Super Blue, SBD=8/17/1971.  Yes, a Rallye without the fender louvers from the factory because of the body side molding option.

This might be hard as the '72's didn't really have that many options to speak of.  Not that I am any authourity on these cars but I'm not aware/seen any optional front end moulding stuff.  Mopar fender tag decoder info doesn't give much description of the moulding.

http://www.mopar1.us/build.html

On the '72 Challenger brochure, it doesn't list front end mouldings as an optional appearance item.

Figures, I havn't been able to find any other info aside from the description.
Thanks for checking.
I did a search here for the M42 option.  Turns out there are many threads with this option listed.
Unfortunately, none of the threads have any pictures or descriptions of these moldings either, just the code.

Thanks

M42-front stone shield molding option. was on 70 to 71 on the 72 it was M42-front end molding option.,,my 72 has the option on my fender tag,,my best guess is its the front valance molding as that is the stone shield up front

The gooroo book also has it as "front stone shield molding". Maybe it was an option in 72, but all 73/74's have them.

Find a pic of pretty much any well-restored 73-74 Chally and you'll see it.

Soooo... in this pic below, is it the chrome trim on the lower front valance that runs behind the license plate?  :clueless:  It sort of completes the chrome trim around the grill?

I can answer that question if you like.  Should be Super Blue, aka Petty Blue.

The 72 and up moulding is a little different than 70/71 BTW....

70/71 is 2 piece and a little thinner.
