White letter tire options
« on: July 31, 2009 - 12:09:44 PM »
I have decided to replace the Polyglas tires on the 'Cuda with radial tires. Other than BF Goodrich Radial T/As who makes radial tires with block type raised white letter?
Anyone have a picture of the tires?

Boy, you talk about a dying breed. They are tough to find anymore.

I have Delta GT Road Max tires.

I was a BFG fan for years and years.  I usually ran 235/60/15 front and 275/60/15 rear  BFG T/As.    A couple years ago it was time for new tires on one of my other cars, and I found that the BFGs ere backordered so I read the reviews on tire rack and then tried the same size Firestone Firehawk Indy 500s.  I found that the Firestones gave me much better cornering traction - both wet and dry.

Besides handling better, I found that it took alot more to break the Firestones loose.

On my 70, I put on a set of 245/60/15 front and 275/60/15 rear Cooper Cobra GTs because I got a great deal on them.  Surprisingly, I also like these tires better than the BFG T/A.

After 2000 miles on the Coopers I still think the Firestones have better traction and slightly less sidewall flex. When it is time to get new tires again I plan on going back to the Firestone Firehawk Indy 500s.

I have no idea of the quality, but a friend of mine is restoring an El Camino, and the owner bought a set of the M/T Sportsmans on a set of Vintage Torque Thrusts, and they look great.

I have no idea, the pic was copied from a search of 'Cooper Cobra' under Google Images (page two). In this instance, the car is a 1968 Charger possibly from a show in South Wales :dunno:

I agree though, nice wheel design

my personal fave is the Firestone Firehawk Indy 500 (yeah, long name... but great tire)

BTW: Firestone is having a sale this month, buy 3 tires, get the fourth free!  I might be picking up two sets this month...

I would have guessed all tire manufacturers would have a line of tires with white lteering.

Chryco, I have ran BFG's on a lot of my cars and trucks, everything from mud tires to the ones on the chally andnever had any problems with them.. What issues have you had?
