return fuel line...Need help!
« on: August 01, 2009 - 08:36:27 AM »
On my 70 Cuda, the return line is backfeeding fuel all over the place. Can this be just blocked off or do I need to get the fuel filter with the 3rd nipple. I need a quick fix as I want to drive the car today!
Thanks,
Fishn

I was in the same boat.  Get a piece of 1/4" line and stick a screw in one end with a hose clamp around it, and stick the line on the return tube with another clamp.  The screw should be wide enough that you need to thread it in, and make sure the clamp is very tight.  After you get everything on, drive the car to get the engine hot, then park it and keep an eye to make sure the line does not leak.

If I read you right the fuel is coming out in the engine compartment...must have a full tank?
  I'd just cap it at the tank, if you have a vented cap you should be OK.

Thanks guys.
The Cuda uses a non vented gas cap. and it has a vent tube that is used on 70 only convs.
Hope this works and I can have a little fun today! :burnout:

Since you have a non vented cap, you should either replace it with a vented cap, or get the vapor separator so you can hook up the return line.

5'16 bolt, 2 hose clamps...works like a charm. Had some fun with it yesterday and no fuel spilling out. Now to get the damn thing sold.
