The Prequel
« on: August 04, 2009 - 07:40:44 AM »
Here are pics of my car before the resto.  A prequel.  Enjoy...

Car in its heyday sometime in the '80's. Someone had changed the color from orange to purple.

Car tore up the streets back then.

Right after I purchased it

Never knew a '71-'74 b-body sway bar would fit an ebody. Traction bars, air shocks, and a chrome dana 60 cover round out the '80's JC Whitney package.

Hood was replaced at some point in its time. How did I know? This one pictured had the crumple zones. My car was an early-year build, which didn't have the crumples. As luck would have it, I found a hood w/out the crumples on my first phone call to a salvage yard out west. I should've played the lottery that day. That hood is almost impossible to find.

Someone drilled the hood pin openings in the wrong place. This hood now resides on my garage wall.

Engine dress-up kit, aluminum intake, slightly worn throttle return spring, super-strong battery bungee cord hold-down.

Someone installed a Chrysler electronic trunk release from some later-year car. Actually, not a bad idea.

Gauge cluster was from a '71 or later car; steering wheel was from a '72-'74 car. Someone installed a hood release from some other car. Even the e-brake assembly had been replaced with a later year one.

Luckily all the SE stuff was in good shape. I found a lens assembly for the overhead console on ebay. Don't even want to say what I paid. But they're just so hard to come by, let alone in good shape.

Starting disassembly

Engine out and car stripped down, ready to go to bodyshop. Was adding on to the garage, so had to kick her out. I think Joe or someone he knew took this pic and posted it on Moparts. Car had only been out of the garage for a week or so when it was spotted.

Off to the bodyshop

What the hell was I thinking???!!!!

Wow  if that was an original orange car they must have done a serious resto to change it to purple seeing as it was painted undeer the carpets
mine suffered a similar fate , they painted everything white over the factory purple making that much harder to properly resto the car .
Can`t wait to see yours finished  :2thumbs:

You did, at Carlisle.  We spoke for a little while.  I was there with my wife.   :)

The above pics are prior to me restoring the car.  Below was the last pic post I did of my car during resto.  It's a year later and the car is done.  Sorry to confuse anyone.  I don't post as much as I should.

Took 2nd in class at Carlisle.  Click on my YouTube video link, and you can see more resto pics.  Enjoy!

VERY Nice!

I hope to get my old JS29U0B back soon and if my results are half as good as yours, I'll be quite happy.
