The "G" is for Gus Johnson.  He worked as an Inspector on 2nd Shift on the body assembly line at the Hamtramck plant from 1954 to 1984.  He put three daughters through the University of Michigan, one of whom is a doctor here in Champaign.

Just kidding!  I have no idea.  :roflsmiley:

Must have been friends with "Rock".

Evidently stupid of me to post the pic and the question regarding the G.

Absolutely NOT!  Sorry that I took this thread off track...we all need a little relief every now and then, and that was the mood I was in when I responded.

As for the G, it's one of those "reference" items that keep our cars from being completely in-human.  Somebody wrote that on your car as it rolled down the line and it's fun to speculate what it means today.  That's all.

Again, sorry for the psuedo-hijack.

Got the roof of together with rest of interior and doorglass. Would be nice to have it ready for sandblasting next week to see how the floors and the rest really are.

Well, I'm already happy that the area where the conv-top is bolted in the back is looking good.
I guess the frontfloor and trunkarea will be something else. :eek4:

Got the trim of the winshield frame but damaged the A-pillar moldings because I didn't see they were attached
with a screw between the windshield and molding. :banghead: Better keep an eye out on ebay I guess.
After removing the homemade consolebracket the holes are visible but I count on replacing the full floor.

Floor looks pretty good, other than the home-made butchery.  Was your car originally green?

No, it's a original plum crazy car. drivers door is from another car after the accident but it isn't long enough
so therefor I have a bigger gap between door and fender. :banghead:

Everything is off inside the car. The only strange thing I found was the inside panel on the passenger side
where the Q-window is, it seems they have prolonged it towards the dooropening. :clueless:

Got the fenders off today although it's freezing in my garage. The rightside one seems to have had some very bad surgery, the top
front corner has 1/2" bondo over very bad weldingwork and the support for the headlight are also replaced. I guess I'm looking
for a new fender. The left one looks OK so far, it's a replacement from another car. Only thing left now before he can go to the sandblaster is to get the windshield and doors out and not to forget, weld in some bars for the dooropenings.
