    I rebuild my 727 this winter for my new stroker motor, didnt cost that much. Even with a Kevlar band, 4.2 kickdown lever all new clutches and seals. I think it cost me less than 200 bucks. Thats with out the converter of course. I have put over 4k on it this summer and still shifts like a dream. I was nervous at first taking it apart. But once you read through what ever book you had, in this case my 74 service manual, there isnt much to it. Just need to have everything clean at all times.

    Well,
    I just got my transmission (727) installed. I had the whole thing gone thru by the same fella that built my engine. I don't even know what all he put in it, but it is basically the same setup he has in his pro/street Duster (runs low 9's in the 1/4). It now has a reverse manual valve body. The real problem was the torque converter was too low a stall speed for the motor. I ended up with a TCI Ultimate Street Fighter#142206. It has a 3500-3800 stall range as the old one was in the 2800 rpm range. It has a steel stator and anti-ballooning plate. TCI told me they could overhaul my old TCI converter for $150.00 bucks, but I would end up with the same problem. Sooooo $969.00 dollars later, I had the NEW TCI convertor. More than I expected to pay, but boy what a difference!! What a dream to drive and one hard hitting SOB!! So I guess the next thing I'll be breaking is my 8 3/4 rear end!! I thinks 651 ft/lbs of torque might break it!! :22yikes: I think a Dana 60 is in order now! :faint:

    IMO a 727 or a Ford C4 are the easiest transmissions to build at home for someone looking to do it themselves

    If you wanna play around with the big shots, you need to pay out like them too, ha ha.

    I hear "good" converters cost around $1,200 so you did good, lol.
