What keeps happening to the pics? Half of them are x'ed out on my screen.

The ones that are x-ed out were loaded directly to the server that is used to host the site.  Every so often, Russ (69ChargerRT) has to go in and delete the old pics.   You can tell which ones will eventually disappear because they have a file name at the bottom of the photo. The ones that are hosted elsewhere (like Photobucket) and are linked to the site using the Image command button stay up as long as the link is good.

sometimes it is a big shame to see them go, when you ask for pait colors or paint schemes, or how toos on repairs ... the images are vital, but hey gotta draw the line somewhere!

I wonder if there's a way to show them as low-res thumbnail images and make them downloadable in their full resolution from compressed files.... just a thought.

Then they still have to be stored on the server, even compressed.  Waaaaaay easier to link to them on photo-hosting sites.  A little more work for each individual member, but worth it in the end.
