Pictures of vinyl roof trim please
« on: August 12, 2009 - 10:20:22 PM »
I found a guy near me that has a ton of parts for Challengers. Mostly trim. It's all mixed up so I need to know how to ID the trim that goes on the back/bottom of a  vinyl roof. Down the road I might like to add a gator grain top so I'm gathering parts now. Are they all the same from 70-74 or like most things is 70 the odd ball? Post any pictures if ya got em!
Thanks Brad

For 1970, SE trim is wider across the profile, just so you know.....

You can use it on a non-SE with the proper mounting hardware though.

If he has any spare seats, please ask him to check them all for broadcast sheets?

For a '70 Challenger, the pieces are around 53.5 " long and about 9/16 to 5/8 wide.  Ones for a Cuda are different.

Thanks guys, but I'm going to be looking threw piles of trim laying all over the place.   ( literally !) I don't have any experience with this trim so I need some help in ID ing it in a pile of other stuff. FY1Cuda how is the 53.5 measured? Is the trim one piece? 2 ? 3? Sorry for all the questions newbie here!LOL
Some pictures of trim on and off the car would be helpful?
Thanks Brad

There are two strips that start by the quarter windows and meet below the back window.  Where they meet, one slips into the other.  Each of those two strips is 53.5" (or so) end to end.

Gotcha! Thanks !  :2thumbs: Just to confirm this is for a Challenger not a Cuda?

Well, there is no such thing as a Cuda SE so.....  ;)

Your best bet would be to take your car over there if you have any doubts, you can lay the trim on the car to check it.

Make sure you grab the front pieces for the bottoms of the A-Pillars as well if he has them.

If I can find where mine are I'll try & get photos of it for you......

Barry I just said that as he owns a Cuda. I just thought maybe he had mistaken the cuda trim dimention he quoted? If Cuda's have trim there? LOL (newbie)

Still working on my 73 cuda, it came with a vinyl roof at one time, long since gone.  Was interesting as I was stripping the room and there stamped in the roof are in 1/4" letters.   MAUREEN  JOHN HEATHER and some others I can't make out yet.  There are lots of grinding marks.  Apparently ground to help the glue and tops adhear better. It must have been a slow night on En2 when this was built.
