Did he warranty the trans or did you have to pay  Im glad you're getting it dialed in now and figured out

My wife and I just got done talking about that.

Yeah, it was warrantied originally......picked it up in May.

My feeling is that the warranty should start new now, since he said himself that he had to pull it all apart again.

But maybe that is unreasonable....Terry, I would look to you for your thoughts on that.

I also am not sure if I plan on asking for a new stock converter to replace the obviously defective one....if its only $35 like Terry said, not sure its worth it.  But then again, I certainly paid for it.

:clapping: Sounds good! Now that converter is letting the RPM's get up closer to the range that the cam works and it is all working together now.

Your warranty will be from your original date and repair, that is the way it ALWAYS is.
I would give them the stock converter back and tell them you want the amount they charged you for it refunded though.  :grinyes:

Thanks Terry.

Do you think I need to let them drive the car again to verify the vibe is gone JUST IN CASE something goes between now and next may?  I mean, if I were in there shoes I think I would want to. Otherwise its just me telling them its gone.

Also, they gave me no paperwork on the second visit...he called it a "CB"...."come back"....and said they dont do paperwork on those.

Strange.....other garages...like the dealer....give me paperwork every time they touch my vehicle.

What do you do at your shop?

You know I would not go back to that shop if you paid me....some places are best to just avoid all together. Hopefully the tranny will live a nice long life now.

You could go back and explain what you did and how it went but I would not be so ready to just hand my keys over to them again. A lot would depend on how they response back.

No paper work is done any CB at my shop either. At my shop I would have pulled the transmission and put another converter in it,if the vibration was still there, then you would have been charged the labor to R&R it. (since it was verified that it was not in the trans)

I have a local garage / exhaust shop that offers many services. Its a father and son shop (with the father there some weeks gone other weeks, lol). Best honest shop I know of but paper work...most times I get something but not always. Do I care / nope cause I know they stand behind their work.

It dried up today so I took her out for a ride.

Ended up adding more tranny fluid...for a total of 11.5 quarts.... (WOW!)

Pretty happy so far.....got her as warm as I could with it being 45 degrees......no issues with the double bump so far....and no engine vibration anymore.  I still have some vibration in the steering wheel at about 40mph but its not engine speed related.....so I am calling the engine vibe GONE!   :bananasmi

I did notice that the tranny doesnt shift as hard as it did before.

Before, it would shift HARD (too hard IMHO) from 1st to 2nd at part throttle....shifting thru the gears manually it shifts firm but not as hard as it did....

I am wondering if the tech dialed back the pressure based on my complaint before..?? I dont think the stall converter would affect the shifting....would it?  I left the kickdown where it was from before and she is shifting real nice into second and low when you gas it.......shifts "right" in traffic too so far.

The car has much better manners in traffic and such now.

Pretty pleased...just wondering about why its shifting not quite as hard now?

The converter will soften the shifts a little at part throttle due to the fact that is is "slipping" alittle bit and not as "direct" to the engine as it was. At full throttle it should make no difference though.

Yeah I figured part throttle would be affected....this was full throttle.

They must have backed off the pressure then thinking it might be the double bump problem.  :dunno:

Easy enough for me to crank back up a bit if I want, right?

You need to pull the oil pan. I had to cut an allen wench shorter to get it to fit. Forgot which way to turn it...believe you back it off. We need pictures!

I think I will leave as-is for now.....

Want to make sure everything else is ok.  Supposed to have warmer weather this week, so hopefully will drive her a bit.....

Plus....hate to kill another otherwise perfect batch of tranny fluid! :money:

i do plan on asking the tech if he tweaked that back though and see what he says.
