Just did new seats
« on: August 02, 2004 - 08:15:57 AM »
this past weekend re did  the seat covers in my cuda, Wow , what a difference. My old stuff was pretty bad. it was very dry and cracked and rips everywhere.  The new stuff is soft and supple, i could sit in it forever.  My back seat is ok, but now im going to have to do it anyway just cus the fronts turned out so nice.
I probably should have gotten new seat foam as well but it still looks 100% better than before.  The job wasnt that hard to do. It took me about 5 hours and that included a good vacuming and cleaning of my interior before i put the seats back in.

Got any pics?  We are in the process of deciding whether we will redo our seats or take them to an uphostery shop.  We bought leather seat covers from legendary and the thought of messing up at the tune of $900 is a little scary.  What was the most difficult thing to do?

I dont think it was hard at all to do. and i dont think you have to worry about messing anything up. Even if  you do it yourself and you are not pleased with the work you did. you can take them back apart and pay someone to so it. And the only thing it costed you was a few bucks in hog rings and an afternoon.

ill get some before and after pics posted later on.

hey Rev..  did you see the pics on the other thread?  as  you can see its not perfect but ive gotten many compliments on them. If you are spending the cash on leather, RE FOAM!  It will turn out nicer. I reused the old seat foam and while it wasnt that bad i probably should have used new foam.

but the job is not that hard at all. I would imagine the back seat will be easier that the front start there. Then if you think that was to hard have someone do your front seats. I am going to do my rear seat probably this winter sometime.

Thanks again for the advice!!  We'll try the backseat first and will look at new foam for the front.  Thanks!
