More Carpet install questions..
« on: August 18, 2009 - 09:59:51 PM »
We've had a few posts here as of late so pardon me if this has been covered. On installs..

Wouldn't it make sense to install the back half first???   Or did I miss this??  :dunno:

Do I have the retractor cover positioned properly??   ???

I've seen people say that ACC carpets are to short and to narrow.... huh???
 :eek7:

                       Yes.

Install the actual belt / retractor assembly first & the cover will position itself correctly.

 :iagree:

I would also recommend a good way to get the holes made for the belt bolts. I read an article that recommended to use a wand type soldering iron. Center the hole and push the iron thru in short pushes and widen the hole as you go. It will make clean holes with no fraying. Just watch the fumes. I practiced on some scraps to get it right.  :2cents:
Do it when your sure it is in place.  :2thumbs:

And for giggles, be carefull cutting around the shifter, especially if it's auto with console. Twice now in my Challenger, I cut the shifter out and didn't leave the flap of carpet on the drivers side to cover the edge of the shifter. Make sense? prolly not, but Like I said I did it twice and wound up tucking and gluing a piece to the side of the shifter  :banghead:
