It was a tight fit with the alternator bolted up.  There was less then an 1/8" on both sides between the alt and the steering box.  As the car was lowered, the shifter pivot was guided into the bushing and the trans x-member was hooked up.   The k-member basically located itself after that.  It went easier then I thought it would.

Wow!

How cool is it that I see this thread today for the first time, read it all the way thru and find you at this stage.

Absolutely stunning.

Thank you for the detail, it's so important.

He seemed excited to come over and help put the engine in.  He doesn't understand why I want to go through the hastle and expence of getting certain details correct.  He would have just put it together and driven it.  I keep telling him it's the little details that really matter.  He just laughs and rolls his eyes.

:2thumbs: Brilliant stuff, the hard yards and attention to detail comes through loud and clear. The photos make you feel as if you are right there in the garage.

So do you think your son will be doing this again in 40 years?

Somehow I think after all this work, he won't let it deteriorate to that stage again.   :grinno:

It's way too early to tell what he's going to be into.  He seems to want to help me in the garage whenever I'm out there though.  Tonight he told me that I needed to get the front wheels on it so the engine would go VROOM VROOM when I turn the key.
