My rod went limp, any suggestions? IT's FIXED (Thx Farmertan)
« on: August 20, 2009 - 05:50:23 PM »
Thought that might get your attention.   :1zhelp:

My rear view mirror doesn't hold in place, it just starting flopping around recently.

Any ideas for a fix?

Thx

If it's the above your windshield just remove it and tighten the screw in the back. It's self-explanatory when you look at it.

:iagree:  Sounds like an easy fix for your mirror but might be harder with your other problem. :stirpot:

Sometimes just tightening the retainer doesn't work. You might have to add a small piece of cardboard or foam under the plate.

   :iagree:

When you take it off, you will see how to tighten it on the back.

If that's the case remove the bracket and tap it with a hammer to flatten it first. The mounting tabs are bent.

His rod goes limp and you figure he should "hammer it flat?" :roflsmiley:

If all else fails let me know, I bought a grab bag of stuff from the engineers (brooks) and it came w/the mirror mount and post, I dont need it mine is mint, they need polishing real bad but the retainer plate on the back side of the mount looks real good.If you want to try a different retainer plate just let me know and there yours.

Only on CC.com can something as simplistic as tightening a little screw or straightening a little bracket turn into a 14 post thread.  :screwy:
