Well I have not been to Ft. Walton in almost 20 years so I'm not up on what it's like, we stayed at Destin a couple of times but found it rather crowded. I was thinking you might have intimate knowledge of some spots near by. I'd say anything between Pensacola & Ft Walton would be fine, close to dining & for me a deck facing the ocean is all I require. We would wait to see how the weather was doing & make out decision at the last minute & probably stay 3-4 nights. Just throw some names out & we will research.
Thanks

Have you tried Vacation Rentals By Owner (vrbo.com)?  You can usually find some good deals and if it is turely by an owner you can work a deal most times, especaily during the off season.  I'm not sure exactly what you are looking for but my spot would be, if I were coming down here, would be Navarre Beach, definately if you want quite, a ton less traffic than FWB or Pensacola, because you are OFF 98.  It's out on the isthmus (type idea) between the Santa Rosa Sound and the gulf, so water on both sides can't lose.  Then you can drive between your place and Pensacola Beach without getting on 98 or paying the $1 toll on the Pensacola Beach bridge.  It's this awesome scenic routes that whines along the coast look out over the coast, as soon as I can my Challenger rolling it's going to be my first cruise.  The only reason you would ever need to get on 98 from there is for groceries or if you wanted to go somewhere else like FWB or Destin.  There is a couple of resturantes out there, my favorite bar in the world (all outdoor, right on the beach), Navarre proper has a handful of resturantes as well, the second most beautiful beaches in the world 'that I have ever been to' (behind the U.S. V.I.), and P-Beach is a blast.  This is my opinion and my opinion only, you guys stay where you like but I consider N-Beach a hidden jem that won't been hidden for all that much longer.  Let me know, like I said I'm more than happy to help anyway I can.
