I thought they were the same as well , that would ad to the pulley matching problems , possibly the hub is not pressed onto the shaft far enough

I snaped a few pics , if i can post them to the right size i'll post them. anyways the nose on one of the pumps had alot more meat to it, the other was more narrow so pump housing itself is a tad different thats why i got diff measurements from hub to casting, i took the one off the engine and had them both side by side they are exactly he same and hubs were press on equally as well one was a six blade the other eight high flow.

My pullys were not lining up either Chryco, this is how i got it when purchased the engine, wrong pullys at least not matching. i had a extra  A/C  bottom pully and matching top pully so every thing lines as far as fan and crank pully goes.

I had a couple of pumps off of a couple of old motors and a newer one that looked like it was made out of aluminum with a thicker pulley mount too. It would have thrown my pulleys out of alignment. This was not one of Mopar Performances' Aluminum housing and pump assembly. Just a newer looking center pump on my cast housing.

All of my old ones were all made of cast iron and the proper lenght. I think they are a cheap clone water pump coming from China somewhere and somebody isn't checking for proper measurements. If you are sure that you have the right pulleys, get one from a good auto parts store and compare them.
