Thoughts on custom gauge panel

The other problem with the blank one that's available is you don't get the sunken look that you get with the one in the picture, as it is formed into that panel.

I was going to reply to this a while ago but wanted to get the cluster together first. Now It might be a stale post! but I feel both sides of the dash thing. I don't like truly "custom" panels They tend to me to look worse then the stock which had a lot of nice sculpting. I liked the 70 only non-rally the best for that. Lots of neat detail. I would have used one like Marks ( Confederate Cuda) if they hadn't gone out of business. I like that a lot. So that forced me to build my own. I wanted it to look like a 70 but with modern gages and a tach. So this is what I came up with. I'm sure purists wont like it but it fits my build.

My challenger's got a rallye dash but I wanted to get away from the woodgrain.
What I did was paint the fascia as well as the console top plate and door inserts in sublime body colour.

I'm thinking of a custom panel for mine. Will have to test my metal working skills, but I, too, like two big gauges and a few small ones. I like my two in the center, like the one that's not made anymore. Will have to experiment.

           conv340...     that's a really cool looking dash. You made that? I need to learn better fab skills, that's all there is to it. Awesome!  How much time do you have into that anyway?

A LOT!   It took on a life of its own. After I got it in my head that It had to be like a 70 non-rally. It became a challenge as to how to make it work. The car was off getting painted so I couldn't work on it...

How did you get the back and front halves together? I'm assuming the screws are under the raised portion you added?

Conv340, where did you get the turn signal/warning lights and which ones do you recommend?  I need to pick some up for the thunder roads dash I picked up. The dash you made came out killer!

xvmotorsports has a dash that i bought for my car when i redo it i think it is a nice dash  check out their site.

I used the original standard gauge cluster as a back support, sanded the front and back flat and then glued the new front metal plate together.  Here's a bunch of pictures on the buildup.

I am not sure if they are in business anymore but I bought my gauge panel from Rocky Mountain Dashes. It is aluminum and I polished the inside of the tubes and painted the outside black.

Love the look of that interior! What seats are those?
