Lunati cams for big block

Has anyone tried a lanati cam like this

Solid lifter
251 intake/259 exhaust
566/586
110 center line.

I am installing this cam in my 499 400 block   I hope it makes decent power for me.

  I guess this means you don't want to drive in the slow lane?   

I have a Lunati in mine, but it wakes up a bit sooner than yours. Let me tell you, you know when you hit that power band. The engine just really comes alive.

Are your running 4:10's in the rear?

My buddy is running a hydraulic VooDoo cam in his 10 second Dart.  It sounds great and runs great.  I have no experience with the particular cam you mentioned....

I have similar in my 451 but the lift on the exhaust is around .576 and intake is .586. It kicks in at about 1900RPM and pulls hard. Best thing I like is the 0.014 tappet clearance gap. No noise from ticky rockers like the Mopar purples.

Mike, I am running a 410 dana in mine and a 4 speed. I also am installing this in a 400 block 499  11.5 to 1 compression. Im gonna break the engine in by installing it in my m46 barracuda, then pull it and install the 318 next year. I will eventually sell either the 446 6pack engine that is in my car now or the 499 six pack engine. I just started to build a 452 rb this afternoon, but im going to take my time. I am hoping this cam I chose , ends up being a good all around cam for bigger cube engines.

How big is yours Mike?  10's with a hydraulic is a good run to OS

I use similar grinds in most of the engines I build , they work extremely well & make a lot of power

Looks like a good cam to me. Never used them, but I was surpirsed at the idle sound (aggressive) and vacuum (13" at 800rpm) from the 268 Voo Doo. The owner likes the power and that's in a mild 318.

Cool, the wife called me a moment ago and said it just came to my door at the house by ups.  Im ready to get this engine fired up now. Im going to try out this cam with an M1 tunnel ram and 2 holley 660 carbs. Decided to hold off on installing my 383 6pk on there for right now.  I dont want to pull the carbs off of my 440-6. That engine is running to good to take parts off of it

Well, I got home and degreed the cam in @ 106.5  That was as close to 106 as you can get. I measured for pushrod length today and took them down to the machine shop to get cut and re press the tips in. I am close to starting this low budget 499 up soon.  I have found 1 660 holley at a good deal so far. I am still looking for another. So as it stands now, I need some valve covers that fit roller rockers, mount my oil pump, and the intake and carbs.


Maybe I should install this in cuda guys car to break it in. My car runs to good as of now.

ummm, that would be great, but as we both know don doesnt break anything in, he just breaks it.

hahahahahaha!  You guys are funny, my wife keeps telling me I need to baby that cuda because its always needing work...  I told her that the cuda is a muscle car and needs to be drove hard!  She thinks it needs to stop breaking before I can call it a muscle car LOL!!! 

I then say that is a lot of the fun is working and tinkering with it!
