speedo needle

I have epoxied a piece of wire behind the 2 parts of the needle

Knot a piece of rope once every furlong. Tie a log to one end, the other to the dash, and toss it out the window. Count how many knots go by in 4 seconds. The count will be miles per hour.

I think a furlong is 660 feet?, so just one furlong in 4 seconds would mean about 120mph!!
I think you need a lot more knots.

Ack, you're right. I'd thought a furlong was 6 feet.

Maybe youre thinking a fathom? which is either 6' or 20', cant remember.
