    Life is good!!!
    The Pig that Dr. Diff added Sure Grip to showed up today and so did the Rear Axle Bearings that I got from quagmire (Dan). He sent the Bearings without even having payment in hand, THANK YOU for trusting me (I did mail a USPMO). There are some great guys on this site!
     Then I got a little bonus when I found out the the U Joint on the Drive Shaft that I got from thedodgeboys (Scott) fits the Rear just fine.
    THANKS again to the guys that make this a great site!

    If you didnt I got some 7260 straps to send you if you need them, but I think yer other straps on the little rear are the same

      Dr. Diff suggested that I get a new set of straps, he said the old ones stretch. He said go to a NAPA store and ask for a set for a 1978 Volare', that way I'm sure to get the right ones.

     Thanks for noticing........
     Last time I was told I have a nice Rear End was 25-30 years ago, luckily, it was a chick that paid me the compliment. Now I'm 51 and I've got guys telling me I've got a nice Rear End. Time sure changes a lot of things...........................

    Where did the grease fitting end up? Always put it on the compression side of the u-joint and not on the stretch side.  Raced for 10 years and never lost a u-joint.

    Looking at your rear-end yoke, your driveshaft turns clockwise.  If it's ears are positioned at 12:00 and 6:00 and the yokes saddles are at 3:00 and 9:00, you want the grease hole to be at position 1:30 or 7:30 so that it is squeezed instead of pulled. It would be PULLED if you put the hole 4:30 or 10:30 slot.  Get it? 

    You have to do the same for the front u-joint but remember that the driveshaft is now the driven part and the trans yoke is now the driver so put it's grease hole to the right of the trans' yoke hole.

    My U Joints are on the Drive Shaft at 10:30 and 1:30. In order to do what you describe, I'll have to relocate one of the U Joints so the grease fittings are pointing in opposite directions. Right?

    Better yet is to use a u-joint that doesn't have a grease fitting or they are in the cap.

    Yes, both should be taken off and rotated 90 degrees.   

    Some will argue that it doesn't matter, but I would do it since you have it out already.

    You lost me, I thought the one at the tranny end of the shaft was OK and the one by the Pig should be rotated 90 degrees clock wise (as viewed in the photo)......
