Manual squirters
« on: August 28, 2009 - 12:38:10 PM »
My 'Cuda has a manual w/s squirter setup. The wiper switch pushes in like on a electric w/s squirter setup. Is that correct for a manual squirter car? Or did someone put a manual sertup in for some reason?
I don't have a fender tag or b/c sheet.

I would guess it would be pretty easy to convert to electric squirters if the washer switch works. Has anyone done this? Anyone have any tips?

there should be 2 brown wires in the harness that will connect to the wiper switch to send power out to the pump , 1 wire is power in the other is power out to the pump , the in wire may connect internally in the switch , all you need is a tank with a pump or an inline pump , connect the brown wire & ground & the squirters should work

Someone must have converted to a 3 spd/var wiper.  2 speed motors didn't get the wash option.

Tom,
I think you might be right. I took a look at the switch on Sunday. It is a 3 speed switch which does push in to activate the squirters. I will have to get a wash bottle and pump and convert to electric washers.
Were the standard wipers two speed in '73? Were all 2 speeds have manual squirters?

If it's a 3 speed switch then you have the motor to match?

I did a little research when fixing mine with the 2 spd stuff and couldn't find a 2 spd with wash option for the e-body.

The wiring should be there either way, it is a brown wire on my 72 should be similar in other years.

I have the 2 speed wiper motor. (I am assuming a 3 speed in an ebody is similarly shaped to a B body 3 speed).
What I think happened is someone changed the whole dash board at one time. The reason I say this is, after having the 'Cuda on the lift I see no evidence of the floors being touched or a 4 speed hump being installed. My car is a 4 speed but has no reverse light indicator on the dash. The wiper switch is a 3 speed switch. The car has a manual bottle and the foot pump mounted to the floor. Although the rubber hose is missing the special grommet is in the firewall.
I am missing the fender tag so all of my above statements impossible to confirm.

Do your wipers currently work?  The 2spd wiper sticks straight out and the 3 spd lays down.  I don't think the 3spd switch will work properly with the 2 spd motor.

Nice, if you get a chance to snap a pic of the switch on the backside that would be great, I'd like to see how they got the 3spd switch to work with the 2 spd motor.
