Does it remind you of this era? I had a 1980 Omni for my first car that I helped pay for in 1984-85. It looked great by it had a 1.7L VW engine. Nobody would work on it. VW would say it was a Dodge but Dodge would say it was a VW.  :pullinghair:

My first new car was an '83 Plymouth Colt GTS with the 1.6L engine.  Don't know if I have any pictures of it, though...

I remember when those late 70's Challengers came out. I can still remember shaking my head and wondering "What are they thinking?".

As I posted in another forum on the same topic

I bought one new in 1980, 2.6 (most were 2.0L) 5 spd and 4whl disc. Took alot of abuse because it wasn't a "real" Challenger. Entered it in a few track days and ran autocross where I consistently won my class.

They actually made these Challenger for more years than the originals.

I bought a new TC3 back in 1979.  I bought it when I was in England and kept it in a garage for several years till I got back.  I was offered at the time 4k more than I gave for it.  I should have sold it on the spot but didnt.  It was a good car.
Got a pretty good start on my M46 optioned Barracuda restoration but now it is on hold till I can gather more funds.  Still need a few parts for it.  SIU Graduate 75 AAS Automotive Tech, 94 BS Advanced Tech Studies, 1997 MSED Workforce Education and Development

I dont remember what it was costing me then.  But they were hard to get for some reason when I got it and I bought it over in England and It was a 4 k offer.

Too bad they never made any Challengers between 1974 and 2008.
Panther Pink '72 Challenger Rallye.

I bought one of those Challengers.  It was a great car got 328/K miles out of it with out any major issues.  It was easy to work on and got great mileage.  The only issue was that about every 6 months I had to re-adjust the points.  The distributor was in sideways and gravity would take it's course.  Although I got to the point that I could adjust them without feeler gauges and I could do it in about 2 minutes start to finish.  Loved that car although it doesn't compare to my 71 convertible.

Ugh, I dont miss the days of carrying around an extra condensor and a points file. Our old 74 Ford truck always had a file, a set of points and an extra condensor in the glove box.

I knew about the "Mitsu-beastie" Challenger, but no the Studebaker ones!  Cool!  The script looks like ours on it!

Call me crazy, but when the mitsubishi Challenger/what-ever-Mitsubishi-called them cars were out, I liked the shape, I thought they were cool at the time...  :smokin:  :screwy:

We've had a few of the Mitsu's years ago. They were so freakin rusty, not much to salvage. Also a fair share of "thats NOT a Challenger" . Off to the shredder they went!
70 Chally R/T Convertible- Yes she's really got a HEMI, no she's not a Charger!
