brought home a Daytona...
« on: August 29, 2009 - 11:52:04 PM »
for the second time

...I purchased this car over 20 years ago from the original owner with 6K original miles on the odometer...my dad wanted to be a partner in the car so it was a deal...we kept the ugly custom painted Dodge for several years and finally sold it to a guy that repainted it the original color combo...it still has all the original drivetrain including a dealer installed 6-PACK from when the car was new...the interior is still all original and the car has only 9,400 miles to date...original window sticker/B-Cast sheet...it is listed as the first Daytona shipped in the USA...anyway, glad to have her back home again

pix...my dad in the "Petty Daytona" about 20 years ago, and the car as I purchased it a couple of weeks ago...haven't had time to install the proper wheels/tires yet

...when the Daytona was just a few weeks old, it was painted purple and gold to resemble another NASCAR racer of the day...it was painted in the "Petty" scheme a couple of years later and remained so for about 15-16 years
